North Carolina Opera Presents “Opera in the Pines” Conducted by Timothy Myers featuring Tenor Noah Stewart at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on May 17

North Carolina Opera, under the leadership of General Director Eric Mitchko and Artistic Director & Principal Conductor Timothy Myers, presents “Opera in the Pines” at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Sat. May 17 at 7 p.m. Maestro Timothy Myers conducts the North Carolina Opera Orchestra and vocal soloists Hailey Clark, Kate Farrar, Noah Stewart, and Ted Federle in a concert of Broadway and opera favorites.

Tickets are $37 for covered, reserved table seating on the crescent and $25 for general admission on the uncovered lawn. General lawn admission is free for children age 14 and under. Patrons may bring picnic dinners and beverages to the concert. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase at the venue. Tickets may be purchased online at or by phone at 919.792.3850. Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre, where 14 acres of Carolina pines cloister a spacious lawn and a grand proscenium sails like a ship off of the lake, is an ideal open-air entertainment venue. “Opera in the Pines” is an outdoor casual evening for the entire family and will go forward rain or shine.

Earlier this season soprano Hailey Clark made her NCO debut as Despina in “Così fan tutte” and appeared as Lelïa in “The Pearl Fishers” at the Forth Worth Opera Festival. She has also appeared with Opera on the James, Santa Fe Concert Association, Opera Saratoga, Arbor Opera Theatre, and the Handel Choir of Baltimore. This summer, she returns to the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program. Ms. Clark is also an accomplished singer-songwriter and pianist; her folksy style boasts an eclectic mix of influences from Americana to jazz.

Mezzo-Soprano Kate Farrar has appeared with Opera North in New Hampshire, the Durham Savoyards, and the Knollwood Concert Series. At the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, she performed Meg Page in “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” Giulietta in “The Tales of Hoffmann,” Mary Warren in the UNC-School of the Arts and Piedmont Opera’s joint production of Dr. Robert Ward’s “The Crucible.” At the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, she appeared with the festival orchestra and at concerts throughout Austria. This summer she returns to Chautauqua Opera as member of the company’s Young Artist Program.

Tenor Noah Stewart, who made his NCO debut in 2012 as Manrico in “Il trovatore,” has appeared at many American and international opera companies including: Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; San Francisco Opera; Teatro Real Madrid; Glimmerglass Festival; Michigan Opera Theater; The Atlanta Opera; Opera North; Castleton Festival; and Opera Carolina. Later this season, he appears at the Hampton Court Palace Festival and the Tanglewood Festival. Next season, he returns to the Royal Opera House, where he sings Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly.” His 2012 debut recording on DECCA, “Noah,” topped the U.K. classical charts for seven weeks.

Baritone Ted Federle has appeared with Opera Colorado, Chautauqua Opera, Mobile Opera, Pensacola Opera, Nashville Opera, Piedmont Opera, Opera Saratoga, Capital Opera, Janiec Opera Company, and the Seagle Music Colony. He has appeared in concert with the Winston-Salem Symphony, Brevard Music Center, Biblioteca National de Chile, and Festival di San Gennaro. At the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, he sang Guglielmo in “Così fan tutte,” Raul Perez in Thomas Pasatieri’s “The Hotel Casablanca,” and Mr. Ford in “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”

North Carolina Opera’s Artistic Director & Principal Conductor Timothy Myers conducts “Opera in the Pines.” In March, he conducted NCO’s acclaimed, semi-staged production of “Rusalka.” Earlier this season, he also conducted three major world premieres: Ricky Ian Gordon's “A Coffin in Egypt” at Houston Grand Opera featuring Frederica von Stade; Crozier's “With Blood, With Ink” at Fort Worth Opera; and John Supko's “All Souls” at Washington D.C.’s National Gallery of Art and subsequently at NCO. In June, he conducts “A Coffin in Egypt” for Opera Philadelphia. Other engagements include performances with the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts, Malaysian Philharmonic, symphony orchestras of Atlanta, North Carolina, Milwaukee, Portland, Toledo, Chautauqua, and festivals at Wolf Trap and Central City.
