Talkbacks with Original Broadway Cast Member John Bolton (Nov. 8) and

Book Writer/Lyricist Rupert Holmes (Nov. 14) Follow Matinee Performances

New York City (October 24, 2026) — The Blue Hill Troupe (BHT), New York City’s only philanthropic musical theater group, proudly announces its 2026 fall production: Curtains (November  6 – 14) at the Theatre at St. Jean’s, 150 East 76th Street. This hilarious, Tony Award–nominated backstage whodunit and love letter to musical theater features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb and a book plus additional lyrics by Rupert Holmes (based on an original book and concept by Peter Stone). Tickets are on sale now. Net proceeds will benefit Kings County Tennis League (KCTL).

Original Broadway cast member John Bolton (also known to Broadway audiences for his performances in Anastasia, A Christmas Story, Spamalot, Titanic, and more) will give a talkback following the 3 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Curtains book writer and lyricist Rupert Holmes is a double Tony Award–winner for his book and score for The Mystery of Edwin Drood, an Edgar Award–winner for both Drood and his play Accomplice, and the writer and performer of the 1979 chart-topper “Escape (The Piña Colada Song),” to name just a few of his creative achievements. He will give a talkback following the 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Curtains tells the tale of an out-of-town tryout for a Broadway musical gone wickedly, hilariously wrong. An unpopular leading lady is murdered on opening night, and a theater-besotted detective arrives to investigate the case . . . and maybe fix the show while he’s at it. What could possibly go right?! The Blue Hill Troupe’s production, performed with a full orchestra, is directed by Michael Blatt and music directed by Chris Piro. The choreographer is Abby Shuppy. The cast features David Baxter, Matt Berry, Sarah Brown, Olivia Coe, Olivia Coughlin, Dena Cubbin, Alex Elkins, Geoff Gaebe, Sabrina Karlin, Chris Kateff, Brady Lynch, Michael Macaione*, Ryan McCall, Ian McGrath, Rachel Naugle, Micah Payson-Lewis, Sarah Rhoads, Dan Rosenbaum, Emily Ruderman, Christian Smythe, Suzanne R. Taylor, and Paul Mitchell Wilder. (*Appearing courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association.)

Supporting local charities through the proceeds of ticket and ad sales has been central to the Blue Hill Troupe’s mission for over a century. To date, the Troupe has raised over $12 million (adjusted for inflation) for a wide variety of New York City charities, including Children’s Aid Society, Covenant House, Rocking the Boat, Young People’s Chorus of NYC, and many more.

Kings County Tennis League is a dynamic nonprofit organization with a mission to combine tennis and education to ignite the potential of children (ages 3-18) in and around Brooklyn Public Housing. KCTL got its start in 2010, when founder Michael McCasland was playing at a neglected tennis court near Marcy Houses. Today, KCTL has expanded to six public housing developments, ten children’s and community centers, and three tennis partner locations in Brooklyn.

The Blue Hill Troupe got its start in 1924, when a group of New Yorkers mounted a production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore at their summer home in Blue Hill, Maine; they relocated to New York City in 1926, and—except for 1929, 2020, and 2021—have performed a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every year since. The tradition of producing a Broadway-style musical in addition to Gilbert & Sullivan was adopted in 1984. Today, the all-volunteer company includes more than 500 active and associate members who collectively manage every aspect of production. All Troupe shows are professionally directed.
