Visconti Arts Announces Signing of Composer Viet Cuong
Agency assumes worldwide and general management for one of the most-performed American composers of his generation

New York, NY (September 1, 2026) Visconti Arts, a leading agency representing visionary talent across the performing arts, proudly announces the signing of composer Viet Cuong to its international roster. Visconti Arts represents Cuong for worldwide and general management.
The announcement arrives at a moment of extraordinary momentum in Cuong's orchestral career. In March, Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic gave the world premiere of Ladders at Walt Disney Concert Hall. In December, Albany Records released Re(new)al, an album devoted entirely to Cuong's orchestral music, performed by the Albany Symphony under David Alan Miller. The recording features Sandbox Percussion in the world premiere recording of Re(new)al, the concerto for percussion quartet and orchestra with which the ensemble performed at Carnegie Hall, alongside Higher Ground, his tuba concerto featuring Justin Benavidez.
Cuong is currently Composer-in-Residence of the Pacific Symphony, which premiered his Marine Layer under Carl St. Clair, and he previously served as the California Symphony's Young American Composer-in-Residence. This year the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra premiered Time and Time Again, co-commissioned with the National Orchestral Institute Festival. His catalogue has likewise found champions among today's most adventurous chamber ensembles, with commissions and performances from Kronos Quartet, Eighth Blackbird, Sandbox Percussion, Alarm Will Sound, and So Percussion.
Across every medium, Cuong's music is defined by its imagination and vibrancy: ringing glasses transformed into hand bells, percussionists spun into the blades of a wind turbine, orchestration that shimmers with the timbral invention of electronic music and the immediacy of contemporary pop. Rather than treating the orchestral, chamber, and wind worlds as separate, Cuong draws them into conversation, following ideas across new works and performing forces until they reach their full expressive potential. His stature in the wind ensemble world is already singular. His works for winds have surpassed one thousand performances worldwide, and in 2025 he was inducted into the American Bandmasters Association.
Viet Cuong joins a community of other adventurous and highly active composers on the Visconti Arts roster, including Tobias Picker (whose groundbreaking new opera Lili Elbe has just been featured in The New York Times), Brittany J. Green (featured in the June issue of Symphony magazine for her work as composer-in-residence at multiple orchestras), and Sphinx Prize-winning composer and double bassist Kebra-Seyoun Charles, who recently premiered their own bass concerto at Carnegie Hall.
“Viet Cuong has quickly become one of the most-performed composers of his generation across a variety of musical worlds,” said founder Dan Visconti. “We're thrilled to support Viet as the release of two full commercial recordings of his orchestral music with the Albany Symphony cements his reputation as one of the most visible and sought-after compositional voices of today. Viet's body of work embraces our shared humanity and expresses a fervent hope in our ability to come together on some of today's most important cultural issues: from marriage equality to renewable energy. We welcome Viet wholeheartedly to our roster, where he'll be at home among other transformative creators at the forefront of today's musical conversation.”
Viet Cuong, Composer
Described as “alluring” and “stirring” by The New York Times, the music of Vietnamese-American composer Viet Cuong (b. 1990) draws upon sincerity, wonder, and the spirit of invention to create works that resonate emotionally, embrace the unexpected, and celebrate our shared humanity. Grounded in a belief that craft and communication are inseparable, Cuong shapes every phrase in service of expressive clarity, inviting listeners into spaces that feel at once deeply personal and broadly shared.
