New England Philharmonic 2027 Call for Scores Now Open
Boston, MA — The New England Philharmonic (NEP) is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for its 2027 Call for Scores Competition, one of the nation's longest-running orchestral competitions dedicated to living composers.
Established in 1985, the competition is a cornerstone of NEP's mission to champion new orchestral music. Each year, more than 150 composers from around the world submit their work for consideration. Selected compositions are performed as part of a future New England Philharmonic season.
By presenting new works alongside established masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire, the New England Philharmonic demonstrates that classical music is a living, evolving art form. Through both its annual Call for Scores and Composer-in-Residence program, NEP has built a national reputation for supporting composers and fostering the creation of new music.
Submissions are welcome from composers in the United States and internationally. Eligible works must be scored for full orchestra, adhere to the competition's instrumentation guidelines, and have a performance duration of no more than 15 minutes.
The submission deadline is July 15, 2026.
In addition to the main competition, eligible early-career composers may be considered for the 2027 Readings Session, which will take place on January 24, 2027. Selected composers will hear their works performed by the orchestra and receive feedback from guest mentor composers.
