World Premiere Recording of A Solar Symphony by Award-Winning Welsh Composer Katie Jenkins Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios to be Released by Musica Solis on March 20, 2026

NEW YORK, NY — On Friday, March 20, 2026, a World Premiere recording of a major new orchestral work titled A Solar Symphony by award-winning Welsh composer and producer Katie Jenkins releases on Musica Solis. Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Ian Carleton Schaefer, this recording was captured at Abbey Road Studios, produced by Nick Patrick, with Rupert Coulson as recording and mixing engineer, and mastered by Cicely Balston.

Following its acclaimed premiere live performance in 2024 by The Second Ending Ensemble at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Appel Room in New York City, A Solar Symphony now receives its first commercial recording in a production of exceptional sonic quality. The nine-and-a-half-minute work showcases Jenkins's distinctive compositional voice, one that merges her Welsh heritage with the dynamic energy of her New York City base to create music of rare emotional immediacy and cinematic scope.

"The piece really is about what's important to me right now...the planet, energy, what happens to us when we die...big topics that I think about. I wanted to try and pull all of these inspirations into a single piece of music," says Katie Jenkins.

Katie Jenkins is a Welsh composer and producer based in New York City, known for a distinctive sound that blends her Welsh heritage with the energy of the city. Her collaborative work spans stage, screen, and multimedia, with presentations at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, New York Fashion Week, and the New York Choreographic Institute at New York City Ballet. Her orchestral music has been performed by ensembles including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Juilliard Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, San Diego Symphony, and Albany Symphony. Jenkins also composes choral music published by Hal Leonard. She won the 2024 American Prize in Composition award.
