Mount Vernon Virtuosi Announces 2026–2027 String Quartet Fellowship

Baltimore, MD — Mount Vernon Virtuosi (MVV) is now accepting applications for its 2026–2027 String Quartet Fellowship, an immersive, year-long residency designed to provide emerging string players with both artistic growth and community engagement opportunities. The fellowship runs from September 2026 through May 2027, offering an unparalleled professional experience for recent graduates and young artists ready to take the next step in their careers.

Fellows will live rent-free in MVV’s Music House and receive a monthly stipend, along with additional paid performance opportunities. The quartet will receive regular coachings, collaborate closely with the Mount Vernon Virtuosi orchestra, and take part in community partnerships that include teaching in Baltimore’s public schools and volunteering weekly at a local food pantry.

Program Highlights:

  • Rent-free housing in the MVV Music House

  • Monthly stipend

  • Regular chamber music coachings and performance opportunities

  • Community engagement through Baltimore public schools and a food pantry

  • Integral participation in all Mount Vernon Virtuosi orchestra projects

Application Requirements:

  • Audition video (minimum 15 minutes) featuring two contrasting pieces

  • $50 application fee

  • Application deadline: February 1, 2026
