The New York Virtuoso Singers Presents Season Opening Concert of Bach Motets at Manhattan’s Church of St. Luke in the Fields
The New York Virtuoso Singers, Harold Rosenbaum, Conductor and Artistic Director, will open its 2025-2026 Manhattan concert season on Saturday, November 1 @ 2:00 PM at Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson Street in Manhattan.
They will present the 6 Bach Motets. These are some of his most spiritual and hypnotic compositions, which require exceptional virtuosity and sensitivity. Hear all six, rarely performed in a single concert.
It is uncertain how many motets Johann Sebastian Bach composed, because some have been lost, and there are some doubtful attributions among the surviving ones associated with him. There is a case for regarding the six motets catalogued BWV 225–230 as being authenticated. These are his only vocal works that stayed in the canon without interruption between his death in 1750 and the 19th-century Bach Revival.
General admission tickets for the November 1 concert are $30 at the door - $25 in advance; students 25 years and younger: $10, available at the door or in advance at https://cvi.yapsody.com/event/index/841923/The-6-Bach-Motets.
New York Virtuoso Singers concerts are ADA accessible. For MTA transportation information, visit http://tripplanner.mta.info/MyTrip/ui_web/customplanner/TripPlanner.aspx.
