Revised edition of L’Enfant et les sortilèges in San Diego with Rafael Payare

The revised edition of opera L’Enfant et les sortilèges stands at the heart of RAVEL EDITION’s program for RAVEL 2025, celebrating 100 years since the work was premiered.

The San Diego Symphony will perform the work under the direction of Rafael Payare, along with a chorus and vocal soloists, as part of a concert series celebrating French music, including works by André Caplet, running from the 3rd to the 5th of October at the Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, California. This will mark the US premiere of this newly revised edition.

During its Ravel 2025 celebrations, RAVEL ÉDITION is proud to have witnessed a growing wave of enthusiasm for French music, particularly the works of Maurice Ravel, across the United States. This renewed interest is exemplified by the triumphant world premiere of Prélude et Danse from Sémiramis, which was performed by the New York Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel this March at David Geffen Hall, and is further reflected in a series of ongoing collaborations this year with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and the Westerville Symphony Orchestra (OH).

Since its launch in 2018, RAVEL ÉDITION has been proud to build strong ties with major symphonic institutions across the United States, including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. It has also developed a particularly close relationship with New York’s Morgan Library & Museum, with whom RAVEL ÉDITION is preparing additional projects to further our collective understanding and appreciation of Maurice Ravel’s art.
