Jeffrey Biegel's Historic Milestone for the Piano

August 15, 2025 | By Naturally Sharp Inc.

Jeffrey Biegel's legacy embraces 20th century traditions with an uncompromised vision for 21st century repertoire, setting an unprecedented milestone for music. He has brought 126 orchestras into 31 new music projects spanning twenty-five years, including a Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium featuring Kenneth Fuchs's "Piano Concerto: Spiritualist" with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by JoAnn Falletta for the Naxos label. He created the first 50 state project in the US for a new work without requiring buy-in fees from orchestras, Peter Boyer's "Rhapsody in Red, White & Blue", which continues to build through its exclusive period June 2023-August 2027. Mr. Boyer conducted the World Premiere recording with Mr. Biegel as soloist, with the London Symphony Orchestra, also for the Naxos label. Aside from the 31 projects, he recorded Leroy Anderson's "Concerto in C" with Leonard Slatkin conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra for the Naxos label, and in the 31 projects, William Bolcom's "Prometheus" for Piano, Orchestra and Chorus with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Carl St. Clair, also for Naxos, and Lucas Richman's "Piano Concerto: In Truth" with the composer conducting the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Adding to the Bolcom work for piano, orchestra and chorus are Jake Runestad's "Dreams of the Fallen", nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance with True Concord Voices and Orchestra conducted by Eric Holtan, and, an upcoming recording in 2027 with Key Chorale led by Joseph Caulkins featuring Farhad Poupel's "Legend of Bijan and Manijeh".

Mr. Biegel's upcoming premieres include James Lee III's "Concerto in A" with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Matthew Kraemer, October 2025; Daniel Perttu's "To the American Dream" with the Endless Mountain Music Festival conducted by Stephen Gunzenhauser for 'America at 250'; two new settings of classics: Daniel Perttu's "Animali! Carnivali!" with poems by Ann Hampton Callaway, with different animals from the classic work, "Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saens; and Stewart Goodyear's "Visions at an Exhibition" with different paintings from the classic work, "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modeste Mussorgsky. Both are still available for World Premieres and orchestras for 2026-27-28.
