Music, Wine, and Fine Cuisine Star in TH·FM’s New Annual Benefit, “Tasting Notes”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 30, 2025
East Hampton, NY— The Hamptons Festival of Music (TH·FM) launches its first annual benefit event, Tasting Notes, a curated wine tasting and chamber concert with gourmet hors d’oeuvres from Moby’s East Hampton. The event takes place Saturday, August 16, 5:00–7:00 PM, at Hoie Hall at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in the heart of East Hampton Village.
This immersive fundraising experience blends live chamber music, five exceptional wines, and chef-prepared seasonal bites, offering an unforgettable evening that celebrates artistry, community, and legacy.
A Chamber Music Showcase
The music is brought to life by TH·FM guest artist Annie Chalex-Boyle on violin and David Palmer on piano. Chalex-Boyle, known for her expressive depth and technical brilliance, has an artistic history with TH·FM Artistic Director Michael Palmer. Their musical synergy was last seen in her performance at LongHouse Reserve. David Palmer, celebrated pianist and founder of Chamber Music Amrillo, performs the intricate piano parts.
Program Highlights:
-
Kreisler: Praeludium & Allegro
-
de Falla: Suite Populaire Espagnole
-
Beethoven: “Kreutzer” Sonata, Mvt I
-
Ravel: Tzigane
-
Encore: A surprise musical “aperitif”
Curated Pairings by a Master Sommelier
The five-pour tasting is curated and led by Lisa Schock, certified master sommelier of Park Place Wines & Liquors. Each wine is selected to mirror the emotional character of the music performed. Of the Cascina de Torcc Barolo chosen to accompany Beethoven’s “Kreutzer” Sonata, Schock says:
“This Barolo echoes the sonata’s emotional intensity and structural rigor. The music’s sudden shifts between fury and lyricism are mirrored in the wine’s tension between firm tannins and aromatic delicacy. Like the sonata, the wine is both cerebral and visceral, unfolding in dramatic layers with a sense of inevitable momentum.”
Gourmet Bites by Moby’s East Hampton
Beloved East Hampton restaurant Moby’s a proud sponsor of Tasting Notes, will serve three plated hors d’oeuvres, prepared onsite. Known for their fresh, coastal Italian-inspired cuisine, Moby’s brings local flavor and culinary flair to the evening.
