Purchase, NY – April 18, 2025 –  Acclaimed string quintet Sybarite5 in conjunction with SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music proudly announces a special residency concert on Saturday, May 3 at 7:00 pm in the SUNY Purchase Conservatory’s Recital Hall. This highly anticipated performance will feature the world premieres of Rebel Skye by Paul Wiancko, Riot Dogs by Shelley Washington, and Room to Breathe by Sybarite5 bassist Louis Levitt. The program will also spotlight new works from composition candidates of the Laura Kaminsky and Gregory Spears studios at SUNY Purchase.

Sybarite5, recently named Ensemble-in-Residence for the 2024-2025 academic year at SUNY Purchase, is renowned for its innovative programming and dynamic performances that span genres and defy categorization. The ensemble’s residency includes masterclasses, close collaboration with student composers, and a series of concerts that bring their “genre-breaking blend of classical and contemporary pieces” to campus and the wider community.

The May 3 concert will be a unique opportunity for audiences to experience the cutting edge of contemporary chamber music, with Sybarite5 premiering works by leading composers and showcasing the next generation of musical voices from SUNY Purchase. The event is free and open to the public.
