BOSTON, M.A -- March 14. 2025. An afternoon of beautiful music and heartwarming philanthropy at the Harvard Club of Boston, on February 9, 2025. "Harmonics of Enterprise: The Sound of Foundations 2025 Season of Concerts," presented by the Wanyi Faith Foundation, brought together Harvard alumni, business leaders, and artists from around the globe to celebrate music's power to connect us and make a difference in the lives of children.

The concert showcased a diverse range of musical styles, from classical compositions to jazz and the soul-stirring depth of Indian classical music. Thousand Graceful Melodies (TGM), led by pianist Sherry Li and cellist Qianci Liu, captivated the audience with pieces like “Dream, Thousand…?? (commissioned from composer Meng Wang) and "Yin Yang" by rising composer Ella Bao, recent winner of the MTNA Massachusetts Composition State Winner award. TGM also performed moving renditions of Piazzolla's "Ave Maria" and Schumann's “Träumerei (Dreaming)”.

Sherry Li, the concert's presenter and founder of C-Star (a real estate investment and technology firm) and the Wanyi Faith Foundation, currently OPM 64’of Harvard Business School, shared her vision for the global concert series, emphasizing music's ability to connect people and support worthy causes. Qianci Liu, the concert's production director, is a cellist and also directs the Paulus Hook Music Foundation and the New York Big Apple Music Festival. The New York International Symphony Orchestra(NYISO), under the baton of Elias Miller (who has collaborated with major U.S. orchestras), provided instrumental accompaniment. Guest pianist Veronika Wang joined the orchestra and Liu for a performance accompanying a video presentation about the SOKAM Foundation's work in the Democratic Republic of Congo, led by CEO Elphine Kakudji.

The energy shifted as jazz pianist Rodney Williams, currently OPM 64’of Harvard Business School and CEO of JASINT Consulting and Technologies, LLC, took the stage. His renditions of jazz classics like "Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World" had the audience tapping their feet and swaying to the music. He was joined by conductor Elias Miller, the New York International Symphony Orchestra, and Sherry Li, whose vocals added a special touch to “Summertime”.

The audience was then transported by the mesmerizing sounds of Indian classical music. Jogiraj Sikidar, the visionary founder and director of Malhaar, and the incredibly talented singer Dr. Somdutta Singh graced the stage. Dr. Singh, currently OPM 64’ of Harvard Business School, who has captivated audiences in India and Dubai, blends technical brilliance with a deep emotional connection to the music. Trained in Hindustani classical music since the age of six, she continues to refine her skills under Jogiraj Sikidar at the Malhaar Institute. Beyond performing, Dr. Singh uses music therapeutically, helping patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. Jogiraj Sikidar's own musical journey began at age four, and he has spent over three decades immersed in Indian classical music traditions. Through Malhaar, he preserves this art form and creates opportunities for cultural exchange.

Emcee Saleema Vellani skillfully guided the audience, focusing on the importance of supporting the three featured charities: the SOKAM Foundation, Malhaar, and the Rhapsody Music Foundation, all dedicated to improving children's lives through education, healthcare, and well-being initiatives.

  • The SOKAM Foundation, founded in 2021 by Elphine Kakudji Moyo, currently OPM 64’ of Harvard Business School, improves healthcare access and quality in the Kasai-Central region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2022, SOKAM donated medical equipment, including the first CT scan machine in Kananga since Congo's independence, to the Kananga Provincial Hospital. SOKAM also empowers individuals through education and health initiatives.
  • The Rhapsody Music Foundation founded by Sudhakar S Kadavasal, currently OPM 64’ of Harvard Business School, uses music education to transform children's lives. Their specialized trainers and curriculum impact nearly 400,000 children across South India.
  • The Malhaar, based in Dubai, promotes Indian classical music education. A video presentation and live performance by Jogiraj Sikidar and Dr. Somdutta Singh showcased the works of Rabindranath Tagore.

The concert culminated in a performance of the "Harmonics of Enterprise Concert Theme Song”, composed by Qianci Liu and performed by OPM 64’ Harvard Business School alumni: Ilker Baburoglu, Sudhakar Kadavasal, Sherry Li, Andreas Sander, Vittorio Savoia, Nada Rita Singh, Somdutta Singh, Saleema Vellani, and Rodney Williams. The lyrics, "Building dreams, tending the world, growing together; Nurturing the soul, connecting hearts, living life fully," captured the concert's spirit.

The audience enjoyed a special encore: Schumann's "Träumerei" from Kinderszenen, performed by TGM and NYISO. As the beautiful notes lingered in the Harvard Club's hall, they evoked a sense of nostalgia for the beauty of childhood, celebrating the innocence of a child's heart and reminding us of the importance of cherishing and protecting that precious purity.

The presenter, Sherry Li, in a heartfelt conversation with Elphine Kakudji, shared her inspiration for establishing the global music concert series, emphasizing the importance of using music as a platform for positive change. The concert powerfully demonstrated music's ability to unite, inspire, and positively impact children's lives.

The event was made possible by sponsors: Assiduus, Kosatec, Ripple Impact, the SOKAM Foundation, Bhavi Trust, Rhapsody Music Foundation, UWC (United World Colleges), the Wanyi Faith Foundation and OPM 64’ from Harvard Business School.

They announced the next event: The Sixth New York Big Apple Music Festival "Echoes of Humanity: From Origin to Unity", to be held on July 19, 2025 at Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall. This musical journey will trace the origins of humanity, starting from Africa, passing through India, China and Europe, and finally culminating in a performance by the United Nations Singers, celebrating global unity and calling for human solidarity.
