Astrig Siranossian brings her unique voice to the Larsen Strings Family
Larsen Strings is honoured to welcome celebrated cellist Astrig Siranossian to its family of artists.
Known for her expressive mastery and global acclaim, Astrig now joins the ranks of leading cellists who rely on Larsen Strings to realise their unique musical voices. Playing on both her historical 1676 Francesco Ruggieri and her 1756 Geinaro Gagliano cello once owned by Sir John Barbirolli, Astrig performs with Larsen Magnacore strings, showcasing their unparalleled reliability, flexibility and tonal depth.
Astrig’s journey in the world of classical music is nothing short of remarkable. As a First Prize and Special Prize winner at the Krzysztof Penderecki International Cello Competition, she has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras, graced stages from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Philharmonie de Paris, and collaborated with legendary artists including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich and Yo-Yo Ma. Described by Le Monde as an artist "whose talent transcends repertoires," Astrig’s performances are widely celebrated for their emotional depth and technical brilliance.
Reflecting on her choice of strings, Astrig shares: “Larsen Strings are the essential link between cello and bow, allowing for the rich palette of colours required for true interpretation. Reliable, flexible and always exceptional.”
Astrig has recently released her latest album, "Invisibles" with pianist Nathanaël Gouin on the Alpha Classics label, a project that uncovers rare compositions by Jean Cras, Pierre-Octave Ferroud and Marcelle Soulage. This recording, acclaimed by critics, continues her mission of elevating lesser-known works to new audiences.
Astrig’s vibrant career extends beyond her performances. She has served as the artistic director of “Musicades” in Romans-sur-Isère since 2015, fostering artistic dialogues that merge music with other art forms. In 2023, she took on the artistic direction of the Adèle Clément Cello Festival, and in 2024, she will lead the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Festival in Trouville. Astrig also teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris as well as at the Ecole Normal Alfred Cortot in Paris.
