Music Director Lawrence Golan's and Pennsylvania's York Symphony Orchestra's latest recording, From Canvas to Concert Hall: Music inspired by Art, was released digitally today on Centaur Records. Featuring works by Saint-Saëns, Popp, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt, with music inspired by paintings from artists including Edouard Manet, El Greco, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the CD was recorded during 2024 at the orchestra's home base, The Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York. The Orchestra performed the album's works live in concert on April 6, 2024, including the world premiere of American composer William Popp's The Galleries.

The physical CDs will be available January 3, 2025.

Founded in 1993, York Symphony Orchestra is one of Pennsylvania’s cultural gems. The Orchestra has performed without interruption throughout the Depression and World War II and continues today. Each season the features classical, pops and young person concerts.

The Concertmaster of the York Symphony Orchestra is Denise Dillenback, who also serves as Concertmaster of Washington State’s Yakima Symphony Orchestra and Northwest Sinfonietta. Learn more here.

 

Lawrence Golan

Vibrant, inspired performances, imaginative programming and an evocative command of different styles and composers are the hallmarks of American conductor Lawrence Golan. Music Director / Conductor of the York Symphony Orchestra (Pennsylvania), the Yakima Symphony Orchestra (Washington), and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra & Opera Theatre at the University of Denver (Colorado), he is also Music Director Laureate of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra.
