ABOUT BRIGHT SHINY THINGS:
Launched in 2018 by double-bassist and founding member of string quintet Sybarite5, Louis Levitt, Bright Shiny Things was originally conceived as a home for the quintet’s recording projects. After Sybarite5’s chart-topping release on the label, OUTLIERS, Levitt found himself inundated with requests from musicians and composers, all looking for a home for their recordings. Since then, the label has amassed 11-Grammy nominations and an incredibly varied and prestigious catalog, featuring artists such as Imani Winds, PubliQuartet, Curtis Stewart, Amanda Gookin, Laura Kaminsky, Alexi Kenney, Ashley Jackson, DBR, Joshua Roman, Verona & Del Sol Quartets, Jessica Meyer, Austin Wulliman, Stewart Goodyear, Mike Block, Decoda, SINTA Quartet, and more. The label has also fostered new talent, releasing albums by Akropolis Reed Quintet, Talla Rouge, Ariel Horowitz, and Poeisis Quartet. Recently Levitt added two imprints to Bright Shiny Things: Imaginary Animals in 2023 to focus on unique offerings, and in 2024 he added Rezurrection Recordz to handle traditional classical works.
Bright Shiny Things stands as a testament to the power of artistic vision and entrepreneurial spirit. From its humble beginnings as a quintet's recording project to its current status as a multi-faceted, Grammy-nominated label, it has become a driving force in the music industry, illuminating the path for both established and emerging artists to shine brightly in the contemporary musical landscape.
