Trinity Choir, Artefact Ensemble, NOVUS, Downtown Voices, and Trinity Youth Chorus nominated for 2025 GRAMMY® Award for Best Choral Performance

November 11, 2024 | By Unison Media

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Trinity Choir, Artefact Ensemble, Downtown Voices, Trinity Youth Chorus, and NOVUS, Trinity Church's groundbreaking new-music music ensemble, have been nominated for a 2025 GRAMMY® Award for Best Choral Performance for their recording of Benedict Sheehan's new oratorio, Akathist (Bright Shiny Things).

The oratio was recorded last fall at New York’s historic Trinity Church with Trinity Choir, Artefact Ensemble, NOVUS, Downtown Voices, Trinity Youth Chorus, conductor Elaine Kelly, and chorus masters Melissa Attebury, Stephen Sands, and Benedict Sheehan. Akathist weaves together medieval chant, Anglo-American hymns, gospel, and jazz – offering a unique perspective on sacred music and a radically constructive response to injustice and evil.
