MASTERCLASSES AT KLAVIERHAUS
Concerts are planned for the 26th Season of the International Keyboard Institute & Festival, taking place at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center July 8 – 12. The IKIF Masters Series will present a showcase of five pianists in recital. All concerts take place at 8:00pm. Masterclasses will be held July 8-12 from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm at Klavierhaus.
Founder/Director Jerome Rose performs the opening concert of Mozart, Schumann, and Liszt on Monday, July 8.
Dudana Mazmanishvili, Georgian pianist, member of the European Cultural Parliament, and founder of International Tbilisi Piano Fest, former IKIF MacKenzie prize winner, performs on Tuesday, July 9.
Alon Goldstein, performing and recording artist, is Artistic Director of piano festivals in the US and Europe, Professor of Piano at University of Missouri – Kansas City, performs Wednesday, July 10.
Quynh Nguyen, Vietnamese pianist, faculty at Hunter College, recorded the complete piano works of Paul Chihara and music by Germaine Tailleferre; she performs with Alan Kay, clarinet; Zvi Plesser, cello; and Carmit Zori, violin in a program of Debussy, Tailleferre and Messiaen on Thursday, July 11.
Martín García García, First Prize at the 2021 Cleveland Competition, Third Prize at the 2021 Chopin Competition in Warsaw with a Special Award for Best Concerto performance, and IKIF 2018 Competition First Prize winner, performs extensively worldwide and returns to IKIF in recital on Friday, July 12.

selections from Liszt’s "Harmonies poétiques et religieuses"
Dudana Mazmanishvili on July 9 performs
Beethoven’s Sonatas “Quasi una fantasia”, Op. 27. No. 1 and No. 2 “Moonlight” and
Schumann’s Kinderszenen, Op. 15 and Kreisleriana, Op. 16
Alon Goldstein on July 10 performs
Bach/Siloti: Prelude in B minor and Bach/Petri: Sheep May Safely Graze, as well as works by
Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, Schubert Impromptus, Op. 90, Chen Yi’s Variations on “Awariguli”,
"The Masque" from Bernstein's Symphony No. 2, "The Age of Anxiety" (arr. Goldstein), plus
Etude No. 6 by Philip Glass, and Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3 in C sharp minor, Op. 39
Quynh Nguyen on July 11 collaborates with Alan Kay, clarinet; Zvi Plesser, cello; and Carmit Zori, violin,
performing a program including Debussy’s Rhapsodie for Clarinet and Piano and Sonata for Cello and Piano,
as well as solo piano works of Tailleferre: Romance, Valse Lente, Au Pavillon d'Alsace. The ensemble finishes
the program with Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.
Martín García García on July 12 performs works of Chopin including the Polonaise-Fantaisie, Impromptus,
Fantaisie-Impromptu and the First Sonata. He also performs Variations by Mompou, La Vega by Albéniz,
and El Polo and Lavapiés from Book III of “Iberia” by Albéniz.
Since 1999 the Festival has attracted students from around the world who have the opportunity to attend the Festival and study with Faculty Artists, participate in masterclasses, and attend concerts and lectures given by some of the world’s best-known pianists and scholars. Box office is open: Sun-Thu: 12pm – 7pm; Friday: 12pm-5pm. Closed Saturday.
In July box office hours are: Monday-Friday 12pm – 5pm; closed Saturday and Sunday.
In July tickets may be picked up during summer Box office hours or starting two hours before each performance.
