International Keyboard Institute & Festival Celebrates 25th Anniversary July 9-14 in Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center

MASTERCLASSES AT KLAVIERHAUS

Concerts are planned for the 25th Anniversary Season of the International Keyboard Institute & Festival, taking place at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center July 9 – 14. The IKIF Masters Series will present a showcase of six pianists in recital. All concerts take place at 8:00pm. Masterclasses will be held July 10-14 from 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm at Klavierhaus.

Founder/Director Jerome Rose performs the opening concert on Sunday, July 9.

Martín García García , First Prize winner of the 2021 Cleveland Competition, Third Prize winner at the 2021 Chopin Competition in Warsaw with a Special Award for Best Concerto performance, and IKIF 2018 Competition First Prize winner, returns to IKIF and performs on Monday, July 10.

Jeffrey Swann , Professor at NYU and longtime faculty member of IKIF performs on Tuesday, July 11.

Nicolas Namoradze , pianist and composer, winner of the 2018 Honens International Piano Competition makes his IKIF Masters Series debut performing a program including his own works on Wednesday, July 12.

Reed Tetzloff , former IKIF participant and Prestige Series Artist makes his IKIF Masters Series debut performing Thursday, July 13.

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet , prolific recording and international performing artist returns to the IKIF Masters Series and performs on Friday, July 14.

Highlights of the Festival Concerts at 8:00pm July 9-14 include:

• Opening Concert in Merkin Hall July 9:
Founder/Director Jerome Rose performing works of
Brahms, Beethoven Sonata Op. 31 No. 3, and Schumann’s Fantasie

• Martín García García on July 10 performing works of Chopin including the Second Sonata in B flat minor, and works of Liszt, including the Sonata in B minor

• Jeffrey Swann on July 11 performing a program titled “Visions of the Dance” featuring works of Schubert/Liszt, Schumann, Liszt, Bartok and Chopin.

• Nicolas Namoradze on July 12 performing a program including works of Rachmaninoff/Kocsis, Ligeti and
Schubert in addition to his own composition, as well as Namoradze’s own arrangement of the Adagio from Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony.

• Reed Tetzloff on July 13 performing works of Berg, Ives, Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 53, and Brahms’ Sonata Op. 5.

• Jean-Efflam Bavouzet in the closing concert on July 14 performing works of Haydn and Ravel

Since 1999 the Festival has attracted students from around the world who have the opportunity to attend the Festival and study with Faculty Artists, participate in masterclasses, and attend concerts and lectures given by some of the world’s best-known pianists and scholars. Over 200 video clips of past Festival events are posted on YouTube, and IKIF has a Facebook page. See: www.ikif.org

For a Schedule of Concerts, please see our website at: www.ikif.org. All Festival events are held at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center. Masterclasses will be held at Klavierhaus, 790 11th Avenue. No tickets are required to attend the Masterclasses, but seating is limited.

Box office is open: Sun-Thu: 12pm – 7pm; Friday: 12pm-5pm. Closed Saturday.
In July box office hours are: Monday-Friday 12pm – 5pm; closed Saturday and Sunday.
In July tickets may be picked up during summer Box office hours or starting two hours before each performance.
