The Reina Sofia School of Music organises two programmes for the 2023 Summer for young people from 8 to 18 years old
THE REINA SOFIA SCHOOL OF MUSIC ORGANISES TWO PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2023 SUMMER FOR YOUNG PEOPLE FROM 8 TO 18 YEARS OLD
- From 3 to 16 July, the Reina Sofía School of Music offers a unique programme of musical education in Santander, the Music and Culture Summer Camp, and from 3 to 23 July, in Madrid, the Young Artists Summer Camp.
- Music and Culture is a musical, cultural and leisure programme in Santander, for children from 8 to 14 years old. Young Artists, in turn, is a 100% musical programme that will be carried out in Madrid, with young people from 8 to 18 years old. Both cover all levels of musical instrument expertise.
- Both programmes include the possibility of choosing between full campus (where students stay overnight) or only day campus. For the first time, interested students will be able to apply on a weekly basis. In addition to this, the Reina Sofía School of Music offers scholarships towards the programme cost, as well as the grants provided by the Santander City Council to those residents in the Cantabria capital for the Music and Culture Programme.
The Reina Sofía School of Music celebrates the 7th edition of its summer programmes, in which for the first time, the young musicians interested will be able to apply on a weekly basis.
During the month of July, in Madrid as well as in Santander, participants will live an experience full of music together with other students coming from all around the world with which to share their passion. They will be taught skills linked to the Reina Sofía School, such as: constancy, dedication, teamwork, responsibility and promotion of dialogue between cultures through music and art.
In both programmes, the student will develop his or her artistic qualities with the best professors, in favourable environments and facilities of the highest quality.
Music and Culture Summer Camp, run in Santander from 3 to 16 July, is open to students between 8 and 14 years old of string instruments (violin, viola, cello and guitar) and piano.
The programme is a cultural immersion into the musical world with performances and theory classes, cultural activities, sports at the weekends balancing out the intensity of the instrument activity. It is open to all levels.
Participants will combine their individual and chamber music lessons at the ‘Ataúlfo Argenta’ Conservatory, with choir, sightreading and the “Practicing tips” workshops, where teachers will offer their own experience when facing stage fright and musical auditions, with leisure and cultural activities, as well as sports at the weekends. They will attend events of the 22nd Santander Encounter of Music and Academy, a music festival throughout Cantabria organised by the School, and other cultural activities, that will make their participation in the programme a very enriching experience, always with music at the centre.
In turn, the Young Artists Summer Camp, in Madrid, from 3 to 23 July, is targeted to young people of all levels of musical ability and ages between 8 and 18 years old.
Interested participants of string, wind, voice and piano, will carry out at the facilities of the Reina Sofía School of Music a 100% musical experience, comprising instrument technique in individual lessons, chamber music, “Listening to music” masterclasses, “Building an Artist” workshops that will help them enter the professional world of music (prepare their curriculum, auditions, exams, competitions, injure prevention, etc.), body technique and music performance.
At the end of each programme the young students will perform in front of their own family and friends. A successful musical performance as the culmination of several weeks of learning in an unforgettable summer.
The two programmes’ application deadline ends on 30 April. Those interested can apply on a weekly basis (two in Santander, three in Madrid) or the full programme, choosing also between ‘full campus’ (students stay overnight at student accommodations) or only ‘day campus’. They will be eligible for “Fundación Albéniz” scholarships granted by the Reina Sofía School, covering 40% of the cost of the programmes, and the “Ataúlfo Argenta” grants from the Santander City Council, for city residents, as programme partner at the Cantabria capital.
