iPalpiti 25th annual Festival to So.Calif. July 14-23

iPalpiti Festival returns to Southern California LIVE for its 25th Season “ON WINGS OF PEACE”

Ten Programs: 4 in Encinitas and La Jolla July 14-17,

Six in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles July 20-23

Grand Finale at Walt Disney Concert Hall, downtown LA, Sat. July 23

 

Twenty-seven select prize-winning musicians from 18 Countries and Five Continents play under the baton of Maestro Eduard Schmieder

As iPalpiti’s prize-winning musicians from around the globe convene in Southern California in celebration of the 25th annual Festival of International Laureates, the glorious sounds of solo, ensemble and string orchestra performances will be heard in Encinitas and La Jolla July 14 -17, followed by programs in the Los Angeles area July 20-23: Beverly Hills, Westwood (UCLA), and Topanga, culminating with “On Wings of Peace” Grand Finale performance at Disney Hall in downtown Los Angeles, Saturday, July 23.

Artists highights include:

•Pavel Šporcl, Czech superstar violinist, alumni soloist, with his famed blue violin, performing Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 (arr. for violin and string orchestra);

•Polish Splot Quartet (“splot” means “intertwined” in Polish), formed in 2019 by four graduates of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. The women were accepted for Festival 2020 but were unable to travel here until this year; all hold important professional positions in their native Poland.

• Svetlana Smolina, pianist: born in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Svetlana performs with orchestras and in recitals worldwide;

•Samuel Nebyu, born in Hungary of Ethiopian/Jewish descent;

•Gyehee Kim, violinist, South Korea (featured soloist 2017);

•Lukasz Yoder, pianist, Poland/USA;

•Davide De Ascaniis, violinist, Italy, “evokes the wizardry of Paganini.”

Countries represented by this year’s laureate musicians are: Italy, Germany, Venezuela, Ecuador, Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, Canada, and US.

Known for its “beauteous string playing,” “lustrous, polished tone” and “splendid sound,” iPalpiti (Italian for “heartbeat”) is dedicated to the artistic career advancement of exceptionally gifted young professional musicians and to the promotion of peace and understanding of peace and understanding through music.

Wed. July 20: iPalpiti Soloists and Splot Quartet 7: 30 p.m. $50. Greystone Mansion, Beverly Hills

Thurs., July 21: iPalpiti Orchestra & Soloists 6:00 p.m. $100-$200. “Hollywood Night” at Elsewhere Topanga Estate

Fri. July 22: Splot Quartet-in-Residence 12:00 noon FREE Powell Library Rotunda, UCLA

Sat., July 23: “On Wings of Peace” Festival Grand Finale: iPalpiti Orchestra / Eduard Schmieder. Soloist Alumnus: Pavel Sporcl, violinist 8:00 p.m. $10-$180 Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall.

     The ON WINGS OF PEACE program will reflect ongoing tragedies and quest for life & peace: "Furia" by Avison, "Quiet Music" by Ukranian composer Silvestrov, Hindemith’s military parody "Minimax," Webern’s "Song of Love," and Enescu’s "Rhapsody N1" arranged for violin solo & string orchestra, featuring Czech superstar violinist Pavel Šporcl.

Festival Programs will feature solo/duos/string quartets/piano and string quintets by composers from Boccherini, Grieg and Beethoven to Bruckner, Paganini, de Falla, Philip Glass, Russian-American composer Albert Markov, Polish composers Karol Szymanowski and Grazyna Bacewicz, Hindemith, Enescu, Webern, and Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov.
