Arts Leader and Financial Services Professional Tiffany Soricelli Named One of Albany's "40 Under 40"

With a “no more starving artists” philosophy and deep expertise in personal finance, Soricelli’s Virtuoso brands fill a critical need for artists and arts supporters

Albany, N.Y. (APRIL 27, 2022) - The Albany Business Review has named Tiffany Soricelli, behavioral finance expert and founder of Virtuoso Advising for Artists and Virtuoso Asset Management, as one of its “40 Under 40.” The designation recognizes professionals who are shaping the future of their communities and their industries.

In celebration of the “40 Under 40” recognition, Soricelli will offer 40 free, 30-minute consults to professional artists at any stage of their career. Sign up here: bit.ly/VirtuosoCelebrationConsultation

“I dedicate this award to every artist and every aspiring artist who questions whether they will be able to make a living through their art. I am here to tell you: it is possible to live your dreams while securing your future,” remarked Soricelli. “Virtuoso’s mission is to create a whole generation of financially savvy and empowered creative professionals, so that no one needs to leave the field or give up on their dreams due to financial inconsistencies.”

Soricelli, 38, is the founder and principal of Virtuoso Advising for Artists and Virtuoso Asset Management, two first-of-their-kind services dedicated to the unique needs of artists and arts supporters. The Virtuoso brands address some of the root drivers of “starving artist syndrome” through financial literacy training, bespoke financial planning, and investment services.

Before working at a hedge fund, Soricelli trained and worked as a professional singer, an experience that affords her unique insight into the financial planning support her clients need. Most professional artists are engaged to work on a contract or project basis, which can often result in spikes and gaps in income, major tax implications and - even for the most accomplished of artists - a sense of unpredictability.

“The financial services sector was not built for gig workers and it certainly wasn’t built to support the particular lifestyles and needs of creative professionals,” remarked Soricelli. “But artists are incredibly intelligent, and I am continually in awe of the financial goals my clients are able to accomplish with a bit of expert support. They pay off student loans, buy homes, save for retirement, and more.”

Soricelli’s clients include major opera houses and music schools nationwide, as well as individual artists and arts philanthropists. She serves on the faculty of leading young artist programs including The Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Minnesota Opera, San Francisco Opera, and New World Symphony

Soricell serves her community through numerous civic activities, from the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce to her role as a “troop leader” for her daughter’s local Daisy troop. In 2021, she took over and refurbished an office space in Burnt Hills, New York, where her firm is headquartered.

Each year, Soricelli and the Virtuoso brands donate 1% of their gross revenue to a nonprofit arts organization through their “1% for the Arts” initiative.
