Hilton Head International Piano Competition
The Hilton Head International Piano Competition (HHIPC) announces the winners of the 2022 competiton held on March 7 - 14:
Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, 22 (Canada) - First Prize
Illia Ovcharenko, 20 (Ukraine) - Second Prize
Seongwoo Moon, 21 (Republic of Korea) - Third Prize
Anthony Ratinov, 24 (United States) - Sascha Gorodnitzki Memorial Prize
In addition to a cash award of $15,000, the first prize winner receives a recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall on Oct. 14, 2022, a CD recording on the Steinway & Sons label, and a return engagement with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra and Music Director John Morris Russell. The Sascha Gorodnitzki Memorial Prize is a judges' discretionary award for which all non-finalist competitors may be considered. Competition Director Mona Huff says, "we are extremely proud of these amazingly talented pianists and we congratulate all the competitors on their performances." The prize winners were selected from a field of 165 applicants, ages 18 - 30, from 28 countries. The competition jury was chaired by Jon Kimura Parker, and included Fabio Bidini, Olag Kern, Cecile Licad, Robin McCabe, Awadagin Pratt, and Logan Skelton.
About the Hilton Head International Piano Competition: The Hilton Head International Piano Competition, one of the leading international piano competitions in the United States, operates with a three-year rotation of events: an adult competition for pianists 18 - 30 years of age, a young artist competition for pianists 13-17 years of age, and a festival that showcases past prize winners and other famous piano artists performing music ranging from classical to jazz genres.
