Stanislav Ioudenitch, new professor at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair

March 8, 2022 | By Reina Sofia School of Music

From the next academic year 2022-2023, the Reina Sofía School of Music (Madrid, Spain) will have pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch at the head of the Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair, led until this year by Galina Eguiazarova.

The Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair was created in the first academic year of the School, 1991-1992 under the guidance of maestro Dmitri Bashkirov, who remained as Head Professor until his passing away in 2021, being replaced by Milana Chernyavska. It was later extended in 2000-2001 with a new chair, conducted by Galina Eguiazarova, who will be leaving the School at the end of this academic year. During these 30 years, 136 pianists of 40 different nationalities have studied with outstanding figures on the international scene such as Arcadi Volodos, Eldar Nebolsin, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Juan Pérez Floristán, Plamena Mangova, Lucas Jussen, and Pallavi Mahidhara, among others.

Stanislav Ioudenitch himself was a student of professor Bashkirov at the School for four years (91/92 – 94/95), making him the first former student to become Head Professor of a chair at the School.

Coinciding with this new appointment, the Reina Sofía School is opening the registration period for professor Ioudenitch’s piano chair auditions to select students for the 2022-2023 academic year. All those interested in studying at the School have until 28 March to register.
