CONGRATS to Sara Davis Buechner on this wonderful review!!
The Montreal Classical Orchestra welcomed pianist Sara Davis Buechner in Concerto No. 3 -An exceptional woman completely obsessed us with her unique interpretation and her flamboyant character. Even before the soloist part began, she was already embracing the music of her body, drawing conductor movements and placing her hands a few millimeters from the keyboard. From then on, we said to ourselves that we were dealing with someone completely out of the ordinary who also likes to play on the expectations of the public.
It would simply be impossible to adequately transcribe into words the impression Sara Davis Buechner made on the piano. She wasn't just making music. She created art in its purest form. From the first notes, she had accessed a parallel world where everything worked out for her, where time seemed to expand under her fingers, where she could demand any shade, any color from the piano and this one delivered her. on a silver platter. It is unusual for a musician to reach this state of grace. But that the public can witness it, then this is priceless.
Sara Davis Buechner managed to make every small note heard, perfectly well articulated, in the middle of an ocean of music and virtuosity. What is almost witchcraft is her ability to use the piano keys as she pleases. Sometimes gentle, sometimes relentless. Sometimes comforting, sometimes thunderous. To be able to pass from a sonority of velvet to that of an ardent metal on a single instrument, which moreover is struck strings, remains a mystery which it is difficult to explain. But Sara Davis Buechner did it and we thank her for it.
The cheers have blended the four corners of the room. There was a first, then a second reminder to loud applause. The public didn't want to let her go anymore. She eventually left the stage after playing Gershwin's Do-Do-Do in a jovial and relaxed atmosphere. A piece quite revealing of the personality of the pianist, apart from the conventional markers of classical music.
