CLASSICAL REVOLUTION: 15 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CONCERTS
San Francisco, CA, November 4th 2021-
Classical Revolution is pleased to announce a weeklong series of concerts commemorating the 15th anniversary of the San Francisco based music presenting organization. Since 2006, Classical Revolution has worked to bring live classical music to highly accessible community and neighborhood venues across the United States and around the world.
During the pandemic, Classical Revolution presented a weekly online global music performance show for over two months, until San Francisco restaurants opened up for sidewalk seating, at which point local Classical Revolution musicians performed several times per week outdoors at numerous Mission District locations including Liberties Bar, Atlas Cafe, Amado’s, Casements Bar, Gestalt, and Chile Lindo.
The upcoming weeklong concert series takes place in venues around San Francisco, with a special Leonard Cohen tribute event in Palo Alto. We invite music listeners to join us in our celebrations.

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Classical Revolution invites all to enjoy their music events, and to contribute to their current fundraiser, of which all proceeds go directly towards paying musicians for performing at CR events. Those who have the means may make a tax-deductible donation through Classical Revolution’s fiscal sponsor, InterMusic SF. By supporting these projects, you are helping the local music community to survive in these changing times.
Classical Revolution was founded in the fall of 2006 by Charith Premawardhana along with several colleagues who were all recent alumni from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with the goal of bringing live chamber music performances to more people in more places. Weekly events took place at Revolution Cafe in San Francisco’s Mission District, which is also the namesake of Classical Revolution. As the events increased in popularity, the organization expanded to performing in venues all over San Francisco and the Bay Area, including the Legion of Honor and de Young Museum, Yoshi’s SF, and the Fillmore Auditorium.
Friends and colleagues around the world began hearing about Classical Revolution’s efforts through articles in the New York Times, Mother Jones, San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Classical Voice, SF Weekly, and other notable publications. With the goal of inclusiveness at the core of the organization, a network of chapters was established, with regular Classical Revolution events happening in cities around the world.
A 2016 ten year anniversary season included a year-long performance cycle of all 9 Beethoven Symphonies in San Francisco, culminating in a concert of the 9th Symphony at Grace Cathedral with a 70 piece orchestra, 80 piece choir, and 1000 people in attendance.
