2021 Symposium on Music in Schools

The Yale School of Music will host a free, virtual Symposium on Music in Schools on Wednesday, June 23, from 12:30-4 p.m. EDT.

As schools reopen and the federal government invests in public education at an unprecedented scale, we feel it’s time to seize the moment with the goal of an accessible, active music life for every student.

The symposium, titled “Equity & Opportunity: Advancing Music Learning Ecosystems,” will explore the design and implementation of collaborative models that connect all students to music in and out of school. During this symposium, participants will hear from expert panelists about the characteristics of healthy music learning ecosystems, attend a town hall focused on current research and implications of new funding, participate in breakout sessions and network with peers, and be inspired by leaders to deepen and expand our own local music communities.
