Boston Landmarks Orchestra Presents "At Home for the Holidays"
A Multicultural Musical Celebration on the Winter Solstice
The free streaming concert brings joy and light on December 21, the start of winter featuring music from around the world
Boston, MA—December 8, 2020—Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) brings light and joy to the holiday season with their upcoming digital musical offering, “At Home for the Holidays,” a multicultural celebration with holiday music from around the world. The free streaming concert on December 21, 2020 at 8pm ET marks the start of the winter solstice—a reflective opportunity which begins a new season. Co-hosted by Landmarks Orchestra Music Director Christopher Wilkins and David Coleman, Director of the Tufts University Gospel Choir, a chamber orchestra of 10 Landmarks Orchestra musicians will perform from GBH’s Fraser Performance Studio.
The festive program includes works from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Europe, and the USA with African American spirituals and holiday music in the gospel tradition, and reflects traditions from Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa celebrations.
“I am thrilled that we're able to bring together a small orchestra of Landmarks Orchestra musicians to celebrate the Winter Solstice,” says Christopher Wilkins. “Our streamed performance will honor many different holiday traditions from diverse cultures and faiths. Being back in the Fraser Studio—our usual rehearsal home—will itself be a celebration, since we've not been there for a year and a half.”
