Due to the public health situation, the festival will present five different programs online at FestivalColonia.org/2020 on November 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 at 6:00 p.m (EST) for free. The programs, once broadcast, will remain on file and can continue to be seen.
Public Radio of Uruguay (Babel.uy worldwide) will broadcast two music programs on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 at 8 p.m (EST).
This year’s festival offers a mix of highlights from the 2018 and 2019 festivals, videos of Colonia del Sacramento, which this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of being declared a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), and other attractions in Uruguay.
The first program will include the presentation of the selected and awarded works at the II Bienal Colonia 2020 (an art contest organized by the festival and curated by an international jury) in which more than 400 artists from all over the country participated.
Other programs offer performances by the Montevideo Philharmonic conducted by Ligia Amadio in concertos for multiple pianos and orchestra, tangos by La Mufa Quintet, the most awarded uruguayan actress Estela Medina in an homage to her teacher, the legendary Margarita Xirgu, a symphonic concert with the Festival Camerata conducted by Jooyoung Ahn and soloists, folklore with the Trío del Sur, jazz with Juan Nevani, Hercules Gomes and the Benny Goodman Quintet, and outstanding programs with established and emerging artists from all over the world.
