Westbound Situation Changes Route

September 9th, 2020

Ann Arbor, MI- Midwest based band Westbound Situation changes route after receiving news that member Matthew Davis will be pursuing other life interests. The news coinciding with the music industry shut down and global pandemic, has placed the remaining band members (Grant Flick, Zach Brown, Jacob Warren) in “park” while they consider their next steps.

The group formed in 2016 out of the Acoustic Music Seminar (AMS), a program run by multi-instrumentalist Mike Marshall. They quickly gained regional acclaim after being invited to serve on the roster of Great Lakes Performing Artist Associates in 2017 for their unique Chambergrass sound that blends the precision of classical chamber music, the rhythmic drive of bluegrass, and the colorful expression of jazz. By 2019 they had recorded and launched their debut album ?Pilot (? available on ?Bandcamp?) and got invited to showcase at the Folk Alliance International Conference in January 2020. Notable performances include The Ark, Blacksmith Shop Concerts, Black Swamp Arts Festival, Marquette Symphony Orchestra, Hart Community Performing Arts Series, Hollerfest. Marshall Mandolin Summit, and Michigan Folk School.

While most bands transition members all the time, Westbound Situation bids farewell to Matt with these heartfelt words to their longtime friend and fellow musician, “His sound, musical ideas and compositions have helped us form our sound. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Westbound Situation is represented by Great Lakes Performing Artist Associates in Ann Arbor, MI. For more information, visit greatlakespaa.org or contact glpaaoffice@greatlakespaa.org
