Internationally acclaimed Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu's six-year-old multi-media performance project turned touring program, VR-project, and recording continues to attract audiences across the country. "Four Strings Around the World," begun in 2013, "...not only extends the superbly talented Muresanu in new directions, but offers a glimpse into the variations of violin technique and approach that would only be gleaned by attending different concerts in various country fairs, Irish pubs, campfire gatherings, and parlors" (Cape Cod Times). The recording of the program, released last season, has been called an "illluminating release" by The Boston Globe.
"Four Strings Around The World," features renowned works for solo violin such as Niccolo Paganini's Caprice No. 24 and J.S. Bach's Chaccone in D minor. The solo violin program also includes commissioned new works from Indian composer Shirish Korde and Native American composer Jerod 'Impichchaachaaha' Tate, as well as Persian, Romanian, Irish, Chinese, South American, and North American music. Three concerts of Four Strings features in Muresanu's 2019-20 season, which includes performances in DC, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, and Illinois, following summer engagements throughout New England, France and Florida. In addition to concerto appearances with orchestras, Ms. Muresanu can be heard in duo-recitals and in chamber music, including performances with her ensemble, The Boston Trio. Having begun her 2019-20 season with a performance of Four Strings at the Romanian Embassy in Washington, DC, followed by an appearance with the Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth, Muresanu's upcoming performances feature a mix of contemporary pieces and war horses, including the music of American composer Jay Reise, Bruch, Prokofiev, Part, Enescu, Mozart, Berio, Beethoven and more.
