Praised for his imaginative programming and vibrant performances, American conductor Lawrence Golan is Music Director of three orchestras across the country (Washington's Yakima Symphony Orchestra, Colorado's Denver Philharmonic and Pennsylvania's York Symphony Orchestra). Also an in-demand guest conductor, highlights of his coming season include leading the Denver Philharmonic in a collaborative performance with the Bayerische Philharmonie in Munich, Germany; conducting the final round of the 14th UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa, and giving the world premiere (for string orchestra) of Pau Casals' String Quartet in E minor in Reus, Spain. Additional highlights include leading the American Festival Orchestra on a tour of China and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra in performances of A Southwest Nutcracker with Tucson Regional Ballet Company (his eleventh consecutive return). A trained violinist who can be heard playing every so often, Golan's 2019-2020 season features a special performance with the Yakima Symphony Chorus and a four-city duo recital tour with pianist Steven Mayer, including a concert in New York City.

Acclaimed for his inspired performances and evocative command of different styles and composers, American conductor Lawrence Golan has developed a reputation as a dynamic, charismatic communicator both on and off the podium. He has conducted throughout the United States, and in Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, El Salvador, England, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, and continues to develop relationships with orchestras nationally and abroad. Golan has been Music Director of Washington's Yakima Symphony Orchestra since 2010, the Denver Philharmonic since 2013 and Pennsylvania's York Symphony Orchestra since 2014. Highlights from recent seasons include return engagements with Italy's Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo and Orchestra Sinfonica Citta di Grosseto, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Portland Ballet Company, debuts with the Maui Pops Orchestra, Mexico's Orquesta de Camara de Bellas Artes, China's Wuhan Philharmonic, the music festivals of Colorado and Batumi (Georgia, Eastern Europe), and a 14-city tour of China with the Denver Philharmonic. Golan is also Music Director of Colorado's Lamont Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre at the University of Denver. Mr. Golan records for Albany Records.His most recent release is the 2018 Albany Records world premiere blue ray disc and audio CD of composer Jiaojiao Zhou's theatrical symphonic poem Ode to Nature with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra. A native of Chicago, Lawrence Golan comes from a musical family - his father, the late Joseph Golan, served as Principal Second Violinist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for over three decades. He received his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Masters of Music in Orchestral Conducting and Violin Performance from Indiana University's School of Music, and his D.M.A. in Violin Performance and Orchestral Conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music. He was the recipient of a Tanglewood Music Center Leonard Bernstein Conducting Fellowship, and an Aspen Music Festival Conducting Fellowship.
