Altius Quartet Announces New Cellist Erin Patterson
The Boulder, CO-based Altius Quartet is pleased to announce its new cellist Erin Patterson. Ms. Patterson recently completed her Master’s Degree in Cello Performance at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music under the tutelage of Matt Haimovitz. She will move to Colorado from Montreal to join the Altius Quartet in the summer of 2019.
A native of Huntsville, AL, Ms. Patterson began playing the cello at age three, and made her solo debut at age 17 performing the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. Her passion for chamber music started at the age of sixteen when she performed Schubert’s Cello Quintet at the Brevard Music Festival. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Alan Rafferty.
Altius Quartet has an exciting summer planned with Ms. Patterson. In mid-June they will be resident coaches at Just Chamber Music Festival in Fort Collins, Colorado. The quartet will also serve as Ensemble-in-Residence at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont in late June.
During July and August, Altius Quartet will be the inaugural Fellowship Quartet at Lakes Area Music Festival in Minnesota. While in residence in Minnesota, the quartet will have an opportunities to perform at a variety of venues including concert halls, prisons, and breweries. Altius Quartet’s busy summer with Ms. Patterson will help them fully integrate her as a new member, and prepare new repertoire for their Fall season.
