GatherNYC Returns to SubCulture For Its Second Year of Mindful Musical Mornings.

May 7, 2019 | By Vera Sheps

New York, NY (February 15, 2019) – Spring is around the corner, which is a time of reflection, rejuvenation, and renewal for many. Also providing reflection, rejuvenation, and renewal is GatherNYC, which is proud to announce its second year beginning March 2019. The revolutionary weekly concert experience, in collaboration with Airbnb, continues its ambitious and innovative programming featuring world-class performers, community building and perhaps most important, spiritual nourishment.

Throughout the season, guests will be served exquisite live classical music by New York’s most celebrated artists, artisanal coffee and pastries, storytelling from a member of the international Moth StorySLAM, and a brief celebration of silence. The entire experience lasts one hour. In these unsettling times, GatherNYC provides a place to fortify beauty and peace.

This series founders and co-artistic directors are cellist Laura Metcalf and her husband guitarist Rupert Boyd. They also comprise the duo Boyd Meets Girl. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2017, and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Traditional Classical Chart. Over the past several years they have toured together throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal and India, and are thrilled to be presenting great music in their home of New York City.

GatherNYC opens its season on Sunday, March 17th with award-winning fiddler Caitlin Warbelow.  The on-stage soloist from the hit Broadway musical “Come From Away” and her band will present a lively morning of Irish music in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Other shows in the series will feature acts such as American Brass Quintet, pianist Natasha Paremski, and the critically acclaimed Calidore String Quartet.
