Quintet of the Americas Presents Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue Concerts on November 1 at Two Queens Locations

Quintet of the Americas, Queens’ renowned woodwind quintet, will present Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, two Queens concerts on November 1, 11 AM at Services Now for Adult Persons, 80-45 Winchester Blvd., Bldg 4, CBU 29, Queens Village and 1 PM at Catholic Charities Bayside Senior Center, 221-15 Horace Harding Blvd, Bayside.  

The concerts will include music by Leonard Bernstein, Ernesto Lecuona, Flushing composer Daniel Ott, Julia Wolfe, and Eric Ewazen, plus dances from Cuba and Colombia.

Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the Quintet has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and the Library of Congress. Members of the Quintet are Karla Moe, flute, Matt Sullivan, oboe, Benjamin Baron, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn, and Sasha Enegren, bassoon. They are currently in residence in The Department of Music and Performing Arts in The Steinhardt School at New York University.
