Fort Worth Symphony Welcomes New Musicians
Thomas Cupples is joining the FWSO from Washington, DC where he has served as second trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra since 2005. Since 2011, he has been performing as Assistant Principal Trumpet. His previous positions include Principal Trumpet of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Principal of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in Haifa, Israel. Cupples attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA where his principal teachers included Charles Schlueter and Norman Bolter. He was also a two-time Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Institute in Lenox, MA where he studied with Roger Voisin and Thomas Rolfs.
Allan Steele comes to the FWSO following the completion of his Bachelor of Music at the Colburn Conservatory where he studied with Ronald Leonard and acted Principal Cello with the Colburn Conservatory Orchestra. Steele was born in Chicago and began studying the cello at the age of four. He studied at the Music Institute of Chicago for four years, and was a long-time member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, soloing with them twice at a young age. He is a founding member of the classical music group "MC2," and regularly performs in the Chicago and Los Angeles areas.
About Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra - Since 1912, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has educated, entertained, and enhanced the cultural life of Cowtown. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs a broad range of symphonic and pops concerts from August through May. In addition to its own concert series, the Orchestra also collaborates with the Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Southwestern Seminary Master Chorale, and the Children’s Education Program of Bass Performance Hall.
