The signature record label of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) has appointed Presto Music as its exclusive European retailer for physical fulfillment, trade retail, and specialized digital promotion. Concurrent with this global expansion, BMOP/sound today releases four world-premiere recordings: two composer-centric albums by Richard Danielpour and Eric Moe, and two digital singles by Shelley Washington and Evan Ziporyn.

Approaching its 20th anniversary in 2028, BMOP/sound is widely recognized as the nation’s foremost label launched by an orchestra. Comprising almost entirely of world-premiere recordings, its prolific catalog of well over 100 contemporary albums is the largest of any symphonic ensemble. This unprecedented library has led The New York Times to call BMOP/sound "an example of everything done right," while WQXR Radio noted, “BMOP puts every other symphony orchestra in the country to shame.”

Eric Moe: No Time Like the Present              
Composer/pianist Eric Moe returns to BMOP/sound for his second feature album, demonstrating the refinement of his compositional voice as well as the changing world in which he creates. The album highlights Moe’s ability to weave angularity and lyricism within the orchestra in "Repeat Offender" alongside his deftness as concerto soloist in "The Sweetness Of Despair, The Necessity Of Hope.” His first BMOP/sound album, Kick & Ride (2011), was hailed by New Music Box as “a treat for contemporary music listeners.”       

Richard Danielpour: The Celestial Circus               
The music of Richard Danielpour is a testament to the colors afforded to adventurous orchestrators and daring performers. The Celestial Circus features acclaimed percussionist Lisa Pegher. She brings her characteristic intensity and precision to "The Wounded Healer," commanding an array of percussion instruments, some more familiar than others. The album contrasts the serene, sparkling character of “Lacrimae Angeli” with the pulsing groove of a trap set, exploring the universal cycles of death and rebirth across cultures.

Shelley Washington: BOTH                 
A powerful and important voice of her generation, Shelley Washington (b.1991) makes her BMOP/sound debut with BOTH (2024). The four-movement work explores the internal dualities and tensions of the composer's life, cultivating unique, thrilling orchestral textures. The piece shifts from deep reflection and nostalgic recollection to unbridled optimism.            
 
Evan Ziporyn: Hard Drive     
Few composers have collaborated with BMOP as frequently as Evan Ziporyn (b.1959). Hard Drive (2007)brings movement and expression to a device that is ubiquitous yet rarely noticed. This angular, perpetually spinning piece builds to a rock-flavored climax, enhanced by electric guitar and unyielding rhythmic energy.

He has served as the Director of Opera and Sonic Exploration at Artpark in Lewiston, NY, as well as the Artistic Director of the Monadnock Music Festival in historic Peterborough, NH. He is a visionary curator of new music, having inaugurated the Ditson Festival of Music at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art and programmed three seasons for the Fromm Concerts at Harvard. Along with serving on the faculty at Tufts University and Northeastern University, Rose has also worked with students nationwide at institutions like Carnegie Mellon University, MIT, New England Conservatory, and the University of California at San Diego, among others.
