Quintet of the Americas in Concert on May 27 at Brooklyn’s Devoción Williamsburg

Quintet of the Americas, Queens’ renowned woodwind quintet, will present a concert on Wednesday, May 27 @ 8:00 PM at Devoción Williamsburg, 148 Grand St. in Brooklyn The event is presented by AndeArte in cooperation with American Composers Forum.
 
The program will be a celebration of new music by emerging Latino composers including Colombian composers Natalia Camargo Duarte, César Corredor Camacho, and Luis Aconcha Torres, Costa Rican composer Sergio Delgado, Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz and Cuban composer Jorge Amado.
 

Performers will be Kim O’Hare Bonacorsa, flute; Andrés Ayola, oboe; David Valbuena, clarinet: Barbara Oldham, horn, Alexander Davis, bassoon.

Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, Quintet of the Americas has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and the Library of Congress.
