Accordion Virtuoso Théo Ould Launches North American Debut Tour with New Piazzolla Album

Album out September 19, 2025 on Alpha Classics

North American tour begins November 23 with performances in Chicago, Montréal, Boston, Albany, and Princeton

French accordionist Théo Ould brings his boundary-pushing artistry to North America this fall on the heels of the release of his latest album, Piazzolla: Balada para un loco, released September 19 on Alpha Classics. A rising star of the European classical scene, Ould will make his North American debut with bold, tango-inspired solo performances in Chicago, Montréal, Boston, Albany, and Princeton between November and December 2025. The tour performances incorporate the music of Piazzolla alongside works by Bartòk, Rameau, Bach, and current-day composers inspired by the tango master.

Celebrated for his imaginative interpretations and energetic flair, Ould offers a fresh take on the music of Astor Piazzolla through new arrangements he crafted himself. Théo describes this new album and tour as “my most personal—I had never allowed myself to feature the music of Astor Piazzolla. I wanted to raise the accordion above the clichés to concentrate on more classical repertoire.”

Théo’s vocation became evident when he heard Piazzolla’s Libertango at the age of 6. Now, 20 years later, this Frenchman from Marseille tackles this music with fervor and exaltation through tailor-made arrangements.

“Until now, I had never allowed myself to feature the music of Astor Piazzolla,” explains Ould. “For me, this is a return to the sources. A joyful reconciliation with a long-buried desire. In arranging, rehearsing, and recording, I found once again the same pleasure I had when as a little boy I hid myself away to play Libertango.”
