Violinist Sarah Chang to Appear with the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra
The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra is excited to present world-renowned violinist Sarah Chang performing Piazzolla’s dazzling Four Seasons violin concerti on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Guest conductor Lucas Richman will also lead the orchestra in performances of a rarely heard John Williams piece entitled Essay for Strings (1965), and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. Needing no introduction to most local music-lovers, Maestro Richman was formerly Music Director of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra here in Los Angeles, and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Currently Music Director of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Richman has also led the Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Conducting Workshop in Los Angeles since 1998. Mr. Richman’s numerous collaborations with film composers as their conductor has yielded recorded scores for such films as the Academy Award-nominated The Village (with violinist Hilary Hahn), As Good as It Gets, Face/Off, The Manchurian Candidate and Kit Kittredge. In 2010, John Williams invited him to lead the three-month national summer tour of Star Wars: In Concert.
Violinist Sarah Chang is recognized as one of the world’s great violinists. Since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 8 she has performed with the greatest orchestras, conductors and accompanists internationally in a career spanning more than two decades. She has recorded exclusively for EMI Classics for more than 20 years. The 1992 winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Ms. Chang was also inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2004.
