Grammy-Nominated Violinist Anastasia Khitruk in Concert on November 19

Grammy-nominated violinist Anastasia Khitruk will be in concert on Thursday, November 19 – 8 PM at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, 154 W. 57th Street in Manhattan. Piano accompanist will be Sergei Babayan. This concert is presented in cooperation with MidAmerica Productions.

Repertoire will be Mendelssohn-Hensel Adagio in E major and selected songs, Beethoven’s Sonata No. 7 in c minor, Op. 30, No. 2, Saint-Lubin’s Adagio Religioso, Op. 44, Fantasie sur un thème de Lucia di Lammermoor, Op. 46 and Theme originale et Etude de S. Thalberg, Op. 45a, along with Schubert’s Fantasy in C Major, D.934.

Anastasia Khitruk was nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award for her performance of Miklos Rozsa’s Violin Concerto, Op. 24 with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra for the Naxos label. More about the release at http://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.570350.

A native of Guimri, Armenia, Sergei Babayan began his musical studies at the age of six. He also studied under Lev Naumov and at the Moscow Conservatory under Mikhail Pletnev. Mr. Babayan has performed throughout Europe, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, South America, China and the U.S, appearing with major orchestras and giving recitals to critical acclaim. In 1996, Babayan founded the Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he is also an Artist-in-Residence.
