New Board for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra
The Board of the Singapore Symphonia Company Limited has been re-appointed by Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang, for a new 2 year term beginning 26 September 2008.
The new 14 member Board chaired by Prof Cham Tao Soon will include 5 new Directors: Mrs Odile Benjamin (Divisional Director, FJ Benjamin (S) Pte Ltd), Mr Hans Dieter Bott (Managing Director, Siemens Pte Ltd), Mrs Goh-Tan Choo Leng (Senior Consultant, Wong Partnership), Mr Heinrich Grafe (General Manager, Conrad Centennial Singapore) and Prof Lim Seh Chun (Dy Dean, Faculty of Engineering, National University of Singapore). All of them are no strangers to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, having supported and contributed generously to Singapore's national orchestra over the years.
Prof Cham who has chaired the Board over the past 9 years says, I am delighted to welcome the new Directors to the Board. Coming from diverse professional background, with a common love for good Classical music, I am certain the Singapore Symphony Orchestra will benefit greatly from their combined expertise. Together with the other Directors, we will continue to build a world class orchestra that all Singaporeans can be proud of.
Prof Cham also expresses his heartfelt thanks to 4 Directors who will be stepping down: Dr Chang Tou Liang, Mr Choo Thiam Siew, Mr Mourad Mankarios and Dr Aline Wong. "The Orchestra has improved significantly with the valuable effort and advice of our Directors. I would like to register the Board's deep appreciation to the 4 Directors for the great difference that they have made to the Orchestra."
Together with Prof Cham, 9 Directors have been re-appointed. They are Deputy Chairman Mr Goh Yew Lin, Mrs Dorothy Chan, Mr Lee Suan Hiang, Ms Lim Mei, Mrs Gretchen Liu, Professor Bernard Tan, Mr Wong Nang Jang and Ms Yong Ying-I.
