New GM for Grant Park Fest
Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival’s leadership changes continue, with Nate Bachhuber having just assumed the post of general manager. He joins Orchestral Association President and CEO Anwar Nasir, appointed last June to succeed Paul Winberg, Festival Chorus Director Christopher Bell, and Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Giancarlo Guerrero, who just completed his second season. In his new job Bachhuber will oversee artistic operations, production, labor relations, and education/community work.
Most recently serving as a consultant to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Bachhuber has been chief artistic officer at Music Academy of the West and VP of artistic planning at the Cincinnati Symphony. He was also artistic advisor to the St. Louis Symphony in its programming for the reopening of Powell Hall and artistic administrator at the LA Phil. He holds an MM in voice from the Curtis Institute.
Nasir cites his “experience developing programming for large-scale outdoor festivals, working closely with musicians and artists, and building distinctive artistic experiences,” while Guerrero notes his “outstanding track record as an artistic leader with a clear passion for connecting orchestras with their communities.”
