Another Shoe Drops in D.C.
The Kennedy Center is once again without a programming chief. Kevin Couch, onetime programming director for ATG Entertainment, was announced on January 16 as VP of programming for KC. Less than two weeks later, he resigned, despite being “honored to join the … Kennedy Center at such a pivotal moment for the performing arts," as he stated at the time of his hiring. "I look forward to the extraordinary creative possibilities ahead.”
Neither he nor the Center would comment on his departure.
Touted by the Center as "A visionary entertainment leader,” Couch is a onetime pop drummer and booking agent for the likes of the '90s R&B group Color Me Badd. “We are proud to welcome Kevin Couch to the … Kennedy Center as we expand our commonsense programming,” said KC head Richard Grenell at the time. Grenell, by the way, now goes by the title “President Ambassador.”
Clearly, Couch’s idea of “commonsense programming” did not mesh with MAGA’s, which has co-opted the once great arts center.
