SF Symphony Makes Its 'Final Offer'
Asked for a response to the musicians’ strike vote, the San Francisco Symphony has issued an “update” on negotiations with the musicians’ union, indicating that they had been underway for over a year. Some progress had been made, the orchestra reports, but talks have now “reached a critical juncture," with the administration putting its “last, best, and final” offer on the table.
Terms of the new, three-year agreement would be retroactive to November 2024 and include a starting base salary of $189,000 per year, rising to $196,976 by contract’s end. Also in the deal are 10 weeks of paid vacation and an increase in pension.
The orchestra states: “The San Francisco Symphony’s orchestra is one of the top five highest-paid orchestras in the country…. This is an extremely strong offer that also requires us to take risks, stretching financially to meet the new contract terms in the years to come."
