KenCen Fires Dance Team
The dance programming team at the Kennedy Center under Trump’s control has been fired. One of its members had been at the helm of the effort to unionize employees at the beleaguered institution. As a result of the firings, Tony Yoon, a staff filmmaker also resigned: The Washington Post quotes his statement: “I will no longer tolerate the unceremonious firings of colleagues who built this great institution.”
Earlier this week the Center’s Theater Producer, Jeffrey Finn, resigned.
Well over 50 staff members have left the Center since Trump became chairman of the board. Dance programs were said to have been an important subscription driver at the Center. “Three individuals were terminated,” Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma Daravi said in an email to the Washington Post. “We will have an exciting announcement about the new direction for Dance programming soon.”
