January 20, 2022, New York, NY — The New York Pops, led by Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke, is rescheduling its concert, Get Happy: That Nelson Riddle Sound to Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 8:00pm in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. Originally scheduled for Friday, February 4, 2022 at 8pm, the concert is being postponed to the following month due to Covid-related challenges.

Ticketholders are asked to retain their February 4 tickets which will be honored at the new performance on Wednesday, March 16. Ticketholders with questions can call CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800 or email feedback@carnegiehall.org.

Get Happy: That Nelson Riddle Sound celebrates American arranger-composer Nelson Riddle with featured artists jazz artist Tony DeSare and Broadway star Capathia Jenkins. All songs on the program feature Riddle’s original arrangements and orchestrations, which were recorded by some of the 20th century’s most iconic voices, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Judy Garland. Selections include “Night and Day”, “Strike Up the Band”, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”, and “I’ve Got the World on a String”.

"Nelson Riddle's unique arrangements have given us the definitive versions of some of the most iconic songs of American popular music,” said New York Pops Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke. “I'm delighted to celebrate Riddle's work with my friends Tony DeSare and Capathia Jenkins, two vocalists who capture the spirit and tone of Riddle's legendary collaborators."

Upcoming concerts in The New York Pops’ 2021-22 Carnegie Hall season include: One Night Only: An Evening with Norm Lewis on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 8:00pm in addition to the orchestra’s 39th Birthday Gala honoring Kristen and Bobby Lopez on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 7:00pm in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.

About Steven Reineke
Steven Reineke has established himself as one of North America's leading conductors of popular music and is in his second decade as Music Director of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, he is Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Principal Pops Conductor of the Houston and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.

Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and his extensive North American conducting appearances include Dallas, Detroit and the Ravinia Music Festival.

On stage, Reineke has created programs and collaborated with a range of leading artists from the worlds of hip hop, R&B, Broadway, television, and rock including Maxwell, Common, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Cynthia Erivo, Sutton Foster, Megan Hilty, Cheyenne Jackson, Wayne Brady, Peter Frampton, and Ben Folds, among others. In 2017, National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” featured Reineke leading the National Symphony Orchestra performing live music excerpts between news segments — a first in the show’s 45-year history. In 2018, Reineke led the National Symphony Orchestra with hip hop legend Nas performing his seminal album "Illmatic" on PBS's Great Performances.

As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Mr. Reineke’s work has been performed worldwide, and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently in North America, including performances by the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic. His Sun Valley Festival Fanfare was used to commemorate the Sun Valley Summer Symphony’s pavilion, and his Festival Te Deum and Swan’s Island Sojourn were debuted by the Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Pops Orchestras. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L. Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands worldwide.

A native of Ohio, Mr. Reineke is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio (2020 Alumnus Distinguished Achievement Medal), where he earned bachelor of music degrees with honors in both trumpet performance and music composition. He currently resides in New York City with his husband Eric Gabbard.

About Capathia Jenkins
The Brooklyn-born and raised singer/actor, Capathia Jenkins, most recently released the critically acclaimed CD Phenomenal Woman the Maya Angelou Songs with her collaborator Louis Rosen. She starred as ‘Medda’ in the hit Disney production of Newsies on Broadway. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War and starred in the Off-Broadway 2000 revival of Godspell. She returned to Broadway in The Look of Love? and created the roles of ‘The Washing Machine’ in Caroline, Or Change and ‘Frieda May’ in Martin Short-Fame Becomes Me where she sang ‘Stop the Show’ and brought the house down every night. In 2007, she went back to Off-Broadway and starred in (mis) Understanding Mammy-The Hattie McDaniel Story ?for which she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. She was also seen in Nora Ephron’s Love, Loss, and What I Wore.

She was a frequent?soloist with the Festival Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic. Capathia had?the great honor of performing in the ‘Broadway Ambassadors to Cuba’ concert as part of the Festival De Teatro De La Habana. She has appeared several times at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops and also sang in a Tribute to Marvin Hamlisch at the Library of Congress.? Upcoming highlights include a series of holiday concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra.

Her television credits include 30 Rock, The Practice, Law & Order SVU, The Sopranos, Law & Order. She can be seen in the film Musical Chairs directed by Susan Seidelman. Ms. Jenkins was also seen in The Wiz Live on NBC.
