FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Pre-College Division (Ages 11 - 18)
June 21 - July 4
The Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF), held on the estate-like grounds of Pennsylvania's Bryn Mawr College, offers young musicians an opportunity to work for 14-17 days with members of the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra, including many of its principal players. Directed by Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violin, and featuring Associate Conductor Cristian Macelaru, PIMF includes four distinct programs for students ages 11 -18: Symphony (Six Levels), Wind Ensemble, Solo Performance, and Piano.
All programs include private lessons, master classes, and faculty recitals with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as music education courses, a daily chamber music program, solo performance opportunities, concerto competitions, off-campus outings to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts, and more. The festival will conclude will an all-camp grand finale, Friday, July 4.
College Division (Graduating High School Seniors, College Students, and Young Professionals)
June 18 - July 4
Philadelphia Orchestra Associate Conductor, Cristian Macelaru, will conduct the PIMF college/young professionals division – Music House - at a July 1 performance at Philadelphia’s historic Penn’s Landing. The Music House Program also includes: private lessons; master classes with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra; daily chamber music; a festival-long audition seminar culminating in Mock Auditions with principal players from the Philadelphia Orchestra; solo performance opportunities; two concerto competitions through which winners perform on-stage duo concertos with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and more.
