About the Artists Shaping a distinctive career driven by unusual repertoire choices and wide-ranging performance experiences, French-Brazilian soprano Béatrice de Larragoïti is an ardent proponent of rare French opera, and is praised for her dark lyric tone and poised interpretations. Most recently, Béatrice covered the role of Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto with English Touring Opera, and was invited to take part in the Opéra de Baugé Festival, singing Berginella and Ninetta in Offenbach’s La Périchole and Cis in Albert Herring, roles for which she was awarded the Gil-Rodriguez prize. Other operatic highlights include the roles of Dido (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), Micaëla (Carmen, Bizet), Madame Lidoine, (Dialogues des Carmélites, Poulenc), Ariane (Ariane et Barbe-Bleue, Dukas), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw, Britten).

Always open to exciting challenges, Béatrice has recently performed the role of Winnie in Stephen McNeff’s Banished, a world premiere directed by Elaine Kidd and conducted by Jessica Cottis. She has also sung María, the title role in Astor Piazzola’s opera María de Buenos-Aires, at the Arcola Theatre in London, as part of the 2016 Grimeborn Festival. Her 2017 projects include a recital of Spanish songs and arias at the Ateneo in Madrid, and the role of Ottavia in L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Jackson’s Lane Theatre in London, conducted by Oliver-John Ruthven and directed by Simon Iorio.

Matthieu Esnult is a young and vibrant French pianist and accompanist. Among his latest concerts were a performance of Heiner Goebbels's Surrogate Cities at the Royal Festival Hall (broadcast on BBC 3) for its UK première and the opening of the Southbank Olympiad, and performing music of Steve Reich at the Royal Festival Hall for the Colin Currie Percussion Festival. Matthieu Esnult has given solo recitals in the major concert halls of China including the Shanghai Daning Theatre, Dezhou Grand Theatre, Harbin Concert hall and Zhuhai HUAFA Grand Theater.

In addition to his solo piano career, Matthieu is in demand as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. He has worked for productions at Opera Bastille and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. His chamber music work has seen him perform several times at Wigmore Hall.

Matthieu has won a collection of national and international prizes, and he has been invited to give piano masterclasses in France, the UK, Tunisia, Scotland, America, China and Mongolia.
