Bob Lappin & The Palm Beach Pops Announce 2010-2011 South Florida Concerts

(West Palm Beach, FL) Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops, known for their signature concerts themed around music from the Great American Songbook and special guest artists, will launch its 19th concert season for 2010-2011. Music director and conductor Bob Lappin leads the orchestra into a thrilling season with six hotly anticipated concert series on November 1, 2010. Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops have been described by the Palm Beach Daily News as “at the top of their game.”

Concert venues include the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (Kravis) in West Palm Beach, The Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton and the Eissey Campus Theatre (Eissey) at Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach Gardens.

Let It Be…The Beatles (November 1-3 & 5-7, 2010 at 8pm) The Nylons, Guest Artist

The opening night concert features a tribute to one of the most iconic musical groups ever…The Beatles, with guest artist, The Nylons. The Nylons are a four-member a cappella group best known for their hits, “Kiss Him Goodbye,” “Chain Gang” and “Happy Together” from their seven gold and platinum recordings. Billboard Magazine calls this group “one of the few groups to bring dominant vocal harmony to the American charts.” Along with original orchestrations from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Maestro Bob Lappin takes the audience on a musical journey of these all-time Beatles favorites “Yesterday,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Hey Jude,” “All You Need Is Love” and more!

The Best of Broadway (November 29-30 & December 1, 3, 5 & 6, 2010 at 8pm) Special Guest Artists TBA

Described by the Palm Beach Daily News as “solid musicianship, polished performers and first-class arrangements of legendary material,” Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops’ annual Broadway concert has become one of the best traditions in South Florida, beloved by fans everywhere! The Palm Beach Pops will present a collection of magnificent music from a variety of popular musicals by the best of Broadway’s composers, featuring Broadway’s brightest singing stars!

The Streisand Songbook(January 4-6 & 9-11, 2011 at 8pm) Special Guest Artist TBA

Spanning her entire career, this incredible concert celebrates the music of one of today’s greatest living legends…Barbra Streisand, featuring timeless songs like "Somewhere," "Memories," “Evergreen” and “The Way We Were” as well as the music from Hello Dolly, Funny Girl and Yentl, and introducing a special guest singer.

An Evening of Rodgers & Hart (February 8-12 & 14, 2011 at 8pm) The John Pizzarelli Quartet, Guest Artist

Internationally acclaimed singer and guitarist for over 25 years, John Pizzarelli puts his own spin on the light-hearted songs written by the dynamic duo of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. Rodgers and Hart are remembered for their artistic collaborations on 28 stage musicals and over 500 songs, including “It’s Easy to Remember” from the 1935 film Mississippi, “The Lady is a Tramp” from Babes in Arms, as well as classics “With A Song In My Heart,” “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” and “My Funny Valentine.” Joining Pizzarelli for the sizzling evening of song will be Larry Fuller on piano, his brother Martin Pizzarelli on bass and Tony Tedesco on drums.

Celebrating the Great Sammy Davis, Jr.(March 9 & 11-15, 2011 at 8pm) Clint Holmes, Guest Artist

An overwhelming audience favorite, superstar Vegas entertainer Clint Holmes returns to honor one of the greatest entertainers of all time…Sammy Davis, Jr. along with other nostalgic favorites. Holmes was the buzz around town this past February when he made his debut with Bob Lappin and The Palm Beach Pops in a concert that received rave reviews and critical acclaim, including a Critic’s Pick in the Palm Beach Daily News’ season review. This high energy concert will have you on your feet and satisfy your craving for sensational music.

The Music of Billy Joel and More (April 4-5 & 7-10, 2011 at 8pm) Michael Cavanaugh, Guest Artist

Handpicked by legend Billy Joel himself to star in the hit Broadway musical Movin’ Out as the original lead of the captivating ‘Piano Man,’ Tony- and Grammy-nominated Michael Cavanaugh has been entertaining audiences world-wide to rave reviews ever since. A truly gifted pianist and vocalist, Cavanaugh combines the hits of Billy Joel with “Just The Way You Are,” Piano Man” and “New York State of Mind,” as well as other legends for an amazing concert, sure to close out the season on a very high note!
