Piano Music of Judith Lang Zaimont Performed in California and Minnesota

Solo piano music of Judith Lang Zaimont will be performed on the following dates at the following locations:

July 3 – 12:30 PM – pianist Felicia Lin will perform Judith Lang Zaimont’s In My Lunchbox at the Meridian Room of the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, 5855 West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. This will be presented by Music Teachers’ Association of California Annual Convention as part of a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Friends of Today’s Music program and showcasing the MTAC commissioned pieces of the last 25 years. July 6 – 12 noon – pianist Christopher Atzinger will present Ms. Zaimont’s A Calendar Set in the sanctuary of Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Avenue SW in Rochester, Minnesota. For more about this Tuesday Noonday Recital, visit http://www.cumethodist.com/.

In My Lunchbox – Suite for Developing Pianists was a commission from the Music Teachers Association of California. Published by Vivace Press, its’ first performances were four premieres at the annual convention of MTAC in July 2003. The work is now on the repertoire lists of MTAC and other state music organizations.

A Calendar Set is 12 virtuosic preludes for solo piano. Published by Jabez Press – http://www.jabezpress.com – the piece was the Winner of the 2005 American Composers Invitational Competition. It was first performed in New York City in March, 1979 and has been performed and heard around the world, including a broadcast on Voice of America.

A native of Michigan, Christopher Atzinger enjoys an expanding career and reputation for excellence throughout the United States, Canada, Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Christopher Atzinger is a medalist of the Cincinnati, New Orleans, San Antonio, Shreveport and Seattle international piano competitions. He was also a winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs Artist Competition and the Simone Belsky Piano Competition, as well as the Premio Città di Ispica prize at the IBLA Grand Prize Competition in Italy. Judith Lang Zaimont is internationally recognized for her music’s distinctive style, characterized by expressive strength and dynamism. A 2003 Aaron Copland Award winner, she has enjoyed a distinguished career as composer of over 100 works with performances by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Berlin and Czech Radio symphonies, and the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra. Her music is widely performed throughout the U.S. and Europe and has been recorded for the Naxos, Koch Classics, Arabesque, Milken Family Foundation, Albany, Jeanne, Leonarda, Northeastern, and 4Tay labels.
